Schuyler Hospital Auxiliary

About the Auxiliary 

In 1969, the Schuyler Hospital Auxiliary was formally organized, bringing together the Hospital's Pink Ladies (formed in 1952) with members of the Watkins Glen Hospital Guild and the Odessa-Montour Hospital Guild, which were active since the 1920s. Their stated purpose was to advance the institution's welfare through service to their patients, their visitors, and the medical, nursing, and administrative personnel.

Since 1969, the Auxiliary has continued to help the Hospital with a group of faithful volunteers. Now however, the Auxiliary needs to ask for help. As our members grow older, they find it difficult at times to make it to their stations at the gift shop, the front desk, or in the Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility. Several have said that it is time to get some "new faces".

We know that people today are busier than ever. Time has become precious and we all feel the need to protect what free time we have. However, volunteers at Schuyler Hospital are asked to donate three hours of their time as seldom as once a month. Of course, some volunteers do more, depending on their schedule.

We are asking you to consider donating some of your time to become a member of the Schuyler Hospital Auxiliary. Please note that the Auxiliary is not limited to women. We are always looking for men with free time to help us out. Don't worry. We don't wear the pink jackets anymore!

Volunteer Opportunities include:

Staffing the reception desk,

Visiting in Skilled Nursing,

Helping with clerical and secretarial projects,

Knitting caps for new babies,

Staffing the Gift Shop,

Gardening,

and more!

Plus, assist with fundraisers including:

Festival of Lights
