SPECIAL SERVICES

PRENATAL CARE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (PCAP)
PCAP provides eligible pregnant women with a full range of prenatal care.   Benefits of the program include; regular checkups, vitamins, and hospital care for delivery.  The program also provides counseling and instruction on pregnancy, nutrition, labor/delivery, baby care, and parenting.  In addition, PCAP helps in getting assistance from such programs as WIC and Medicaid and provides new mothers with health care (checkups, medications, hospital/emergency care) for two months after delivery and health care for babies for a full year after birth.  (607) 535-9276 or info@schuylerhospital.org


 
CANCER SERVICES PROGRAM
A service of the NYS Department of Health, the Cancer Services Program oversees the delivery of comprehensive breast, cervical and colorectal cancer screening services and prostate cancer education to underserved populations.  (607) 535-9174 or info@schuylerhospital.org

The program also provides public and health care provider education regarding cancer prevention and early detection, maintains a quality improvement program to ensure the quality of clinical services provided through the program and provides funds for community-based cancer support services for persons with cancer and their families.
 
Services include providing uninsured or under-insured women and men with annual comprehensive screening examinations and follow-up services; colorectal cancer screening and education about prostate health, prostate cancer and issues related to screening and treatment; and more.
 
SOCIAL SERVICES
The Department of Social Work can provide assistance with supportive counseling, referrals and special needs.  A social worker can assist you and your family in making arrangements for home nursing and long term care facility placement.

CHAPLAINCY PROGRAM
If you want a chaplain, let your nurse or social worker know. The chaplain will assist you upon request.  Catholic services are held the first and third Wednesdays of every month at 4 PM in the Activities Room in the Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility. Rosary is also held in the Unit 1 Dining Room every Thursday at 10:45 AM. 

HEARING IMPAIRED UNITS AND LANGUAGE INTERPRETERS
Sign interpreters and TDD units are available for the hearing impaired. TDD units are located in the emergency department and the Medical/Surgical department. A relay telephone number is available for sending messages to the hearing impaired. Language interpreters are also available.
 
HAIR CARE
A beauty shop is located in Seneca View Skilled Nursing. A licensed beautician offers a full line of hair care services for a moderate fee by appointment. In addition, barber services are also available. Ask your nurse about this service if you are interested.
