VISITING INFORMATION
VISITING POLICY Brief visits by family and friends are an important aspect of patient care and can brighten your hospital stay. Each hospital visitor can contribute to the safety, convenience, and comfort of the patient by keeping in mind the following guidelines. We are sure you’ll use your own good judgment and thoughtfulness in this matter. Patient care is the hospital’s primary objective. Short visits are important to the patient’s recovery, but should be minimized so that the patient has ample time to rest during his/her stay in the hospital. Often, a patient is so pleased to know of your concern that they hesitate to mention they are tired, weak, or uncomfortable. Long visits can be exhausting for the patient. Most often a short visit is appreciated; as is a visit at home after discharge from the hospital. Too many visitors can be physically and emotionally tiring to the patient and can interfere with hospital care. It is requested that no more than two visitors be present in the patient’s room at one time. Flowers often arrive when a patient is first admitted. Flowers are also enjoyed later in the patient’s stay, or when he/she returns home. Cards or reading material are welcome gifts as well. Food brought to a patient as a gift cannot be cooked or refrigerated at the hospital. Parking is provided free of charge in any of the lots. Safety and Infection Control are important aspects of patient care. As a visitor, please abide by all of the hospital safety regulations and infection control measures. The members of the hospital staff will be glad to explain these regulations to you. Rest and comfort are important factors in each patient’s’ hospital stay. Please try to keep your visit brief, quiet, and restful. VISITING HOURS Visiting hours vary according to the unit where the patient is located. Special circumstances are considered on an individual basis. Visiting hours are flexible for such situations as a critically or terminally ill patient. Check with the Charge Nurse for details. The care and comfort of the patient is our major concern. Therefore, there may be times when the nursing staff needs to modify the visiting regulations. Thank you for your cooperation. ACUTE CARE 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM Hours for children to visit patients shall be from 6 PM to 7 PM every night and children under age 14 must be accompanied by an adult visitor. Requests for reasonable exceptions to the above regulations should be referred to the Charge Nurse, i.e. visitors to pediatric patients or visitors to critical patients. MATERNITY 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friends and family members may visit any time convenient to the patient. Anyone who is ill will NOT be allowed to visit. A parent/support person will be responsible for any children. Please do NOT leave them unattended in the waiting area. INTENSIVE CARE 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM 4:00 PM to 4:30 PM 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM Visitors are limited to immediate family members, two at a time only. Exceptions can be made by the Charge Nurse based on the patient’s clinical status.
