Laboratory
NEW!! Lab Tests Online provides information to help patients and family caregivers better understand clinical lab tests. These include tests that are part of routine care, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of a broad range of conditions and diseases. In addition, a mobile application provides on-the-go information about laboratory tests. Medical professionals can use the site as a quick reference tool or as a resource for keeping up with advances in laboratory science.
To download the mobile app, see the left navigation bar at http://labtestsonline.org/site/.
Launched in 2001, the site is produced by the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) and is the result of a collaboration of professional societies representing the laboratory community. The Joint Commission is a partner of Lab Tests Online and serves on their editorial board.
Welcome to big-city lab services right in your neighborhood.
There's no need to miss work or take a long drive when you require a medical test. Virtually any analysis you need can be performed by the Laboratory Services Department at Schuyler Hospital. Our staff uses the most up-to-date technology to get fast, accurate results, whether you give your sample at the hospital, your doctor's office, or your nursing home. Safe Medical Sharps Disposal
Schuyler Hospital in Montour Falls will accept used medical sharps for disposal at the Hospital’s Laboratory from Schuyler County residents.
Containers of syringes and sharps can be brought to the Hospital’s Laboratory – located at 220 Steuben Street in Montour Falls – Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m., and Saturday-Sunday 8 a.m.-Noon. Use the Emergency Department entrance.
Syringes and sharps must be contained in a rigid, puncture resistant container – such as a laundry detergent bottle or plastic kitty litter container – secured with a screw top, and must be labeled "Biohazard" or "Contains Needles." The container also needs to have a label giving the address of the household it originated from. Be sure to leave empty at least 2 inches at the top of the container.
Laboratory staff will accept the appropriately labeled containers and put them in the biohazard hazard waste containers within the laboratory.
Any containers received that are not acceptable will be put in a biohazard sharps container and closed.
Schuyler Hospital reminds those using medical sharps at home to never put used sharps in the trash, down the toilet, in with recyclables, or in unsafe containers.
