To diagnose coughing and breathing problems caused by bronchitis, asthma, asbestosis, chronic smoking, and other reasons, Schuyler Hospital offers comprehensive pulmonary function testing services.

Pulmonary function tests evaluate how much air your lungs can hold, how quickly you can move air in and out of your lungs, and how well your lungs add oxygen to the blood and remove carbon dioxide from the blood.

Diagnostic procedures include:

• Spirometry for inhalation and expiratory volumes
• Gas diffusion efficiency
• Blood gas level testing
• Oxygen saturation testing
• Bronchodilation flow rate testing
